Al-Arab Newspaper was established in 1972 as the first comprehensive political daily newspaper to be published in Qatar by Dar Al-orubah for Press, Printing, Publishing and Distribution. It was founded by the Dean of Qatari Press, Mr. Abdullah Hussein Nehmeh, may God have mercy on him, where he held the position of responsible editor-in-chief. The publication of Al-Arab newspaper resumed on the eighteenth of November 2007. The first issue carried the number 7097, which is the complement to the last issue of Al-Arab newspaper in 1996, which was issued by Dar Al-Arab for Publishing and Distribution.
In September 2020, the of Directors of Dar Al Sharq Group, headed by His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Khalid bin Thani bin Abdullah Al Thani, decided to acquire Dar Al Arab for publishing, printing and distribution, in an operation that is the first of its kind in the media sector in Qatar. After this decision, Dar Al Sharq Group prepared a new strategy and vision for Al Arab newspaper, and carried out a comprehensive restructuring that contributed to the reissue of the paper version again after its hiatus for months during the Corona pandemic 2020, and the newspaper was reissued again in line with the rapid changes witnessed by the media sector in its various fields. and meet the requirements of the next stage.

In May 2022, Dar Al Sharq Group celebrated the 50th anniversary of the publication of Al Arab Newspaper, the first daily newspaper printed in the State of Qatar, in the presence of His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Thamer Al Thani, President of Qatar Media Corporation, and with the participation of a number of leaders of official institutions and prominent figures in the field Media in Qatar.
