3rd Qatar Conference on Supply Chain Management (SCMC)

Introduction

 

The first Supply Chain Management Conference was held in March 2019, followed by the second in December 2021, both under the kind patronage of His Excellency Mr. Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti, Minister of Transport.
We are now pleased to announce the third conference, set to take place in 2024, under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Transport. The conference will focus on Qatar’s strategies to enhance recovery and sustain supply chains post-COVID-19, alongside the political and economic conditions that have affected the region over the past five years.
Additionally, the conference coincides with the first anniversary of the expansion of Hamad International Port and the opening of the second container terminal.

 

Conference Topics:

  • Supply chain strategies post-recovery.
  • Success of government agencies in ensuring the flow of goods during crises.
  • Future challenges in maintaining the flow of goods.
  • International experiences in crisis management related to supply chains.
  • The role of Customs, Ports, and Hamad International Airport in supply chain management.

 

Sessions:

  • Opening session: Addressed by His Excellency the Minister of Transport and several distinguished figures.
  • Three working sessions focusing on the key topics of the conference, titled:
  1. Supply Chain Challenges and Sustainable Recovery (Opportunities and Risks)
    • Highlighting best practices for enhancing supply chain sustainability after economic, health, and political challenges (local, Arab, and global perspectives) with participation from speakers and academics from Qatar, the Gulf, and international companies and institutions.
  2. The Growing Role of Digital Transformation in Improving Supply Chain Efficiency
    • Exploring the role of digital transformation in facilitating supply chains and ensuring the flow of goods amid global challenges, featuring speakers from the Ministry of Transport and local and international companies and agencies.
  3. Supply Chain Achievements and Challenges in Qatar
    • The second container terminal at Hamad International Port and its impact on global trade flows.
    • Discussing the expansion of Hamad International Port and its effect on trade flows and supply chains in Qatar and the region.
    • Strengthening effective logistical partnerships between the public and private sectors to support supply chains.
    • Featuring speakers from Customs, Ports, Hamad International Airport, and Qatar Airways to discuss their roles in ensuring sustainable supply chains and mitigating future crises.

Session Presentation Format:

The conference will be held at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel with the participation of speakers and attendees, while also being broadcast live via the "Zoom" platform, the Dar Al Sharq Group website, and social media platforms (X, Facebook), allowing for broader participation.
